America's Fakest School Graciously Offers to Help Black Colleges
Just when you think that for-profit colleges like the University of Phoenix are predatory bloodsuckers that sell worthless degrees at inflated prices to vulnerable people, they go and do something thoughtful, like offering their terrible services to thousands of black students.
Inside Higher Ed reports on an incredibly generous offer by fake for-profit college The University of Phoenix, which has graciously "partnered" with the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund in order to (they hope!) start teaching students at historically black colleges and universities. This is just what the financially and, indeed, existentially imperiled HBCUs need: to be more like the University of Phoenix. Some observers have their doubts:
Four-year HBCUs, which enroll some non-black students, have an average six-year graduation rate, as measured by the federal government, of 36 percent. Nationally, the graduation rate for black students is about 30 percent. Phoenix's black graduation rate is 15 percent, though it is still graduates more black students than any other institution.
Ignore these damning statistics! Consider instead this very reassuring remark by the head of the scholarship fund that is working to bring HBCUs and shitty fake colleges together:
"Anyone can sit around and quibble with 'Should we have chosen a Marriott or a Sheraton' — anyway, at the end of the day, you're going to get a great hotel," he said.
At the end of the day, you're going to get a "great hotel" [bad and overpriced college education].
