Ad Agency Employee Drops Dead in Office from 'Work-Related Exhaustion'
A 24-year-old Ogilvy & Mather employee dropped dead suddenly of a massive heart attack in the august ad agency's Beijing offices after working extremely long hours for an entire month.
Colleagues say Li Yuan would arrive early and stay in the office until 11 PM every night in the month leading up to his untimely demise.
On Tuesday, Li collapsed after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Ogilvy China later confirmed the sad details of Li's passing in a tweet.
Shanghaiist quotes the China Youth Daily as attributing some 600,000 deaths a year in China to "work exhaustion."
