Federal District Court Judge George A. O'Toole ruled today that Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be tried in Boston, as originally planned. The New York Times also reported that the trial date will be pushed back until January 5, instead of the previously scheduled November 3.

This ruling comes in response to Tsarnaev's lawyers' request that the trial be moved to Washington, D.C. due to Boston's perceived "overwhelming presumption of guilt."

Because of the sensitive nature of the case, there will be a 2,000 person jury pool summoned and 800 jurors brought to court prior to the final selection of 12 jurors. Though Massachusetts abolished capital punishment in 1984, the trial will be held in a federal court, meaning that Tsarnaev will still be facing the death penalty.
