Yeah, but all the dead weight in town is currently on the road to Burning Man, so we'll make out just fine this weekend regardless.
It's true. It's like a ghost town. And I'll be on my way to Black Rock City tomorrow morning.
But HOW WILL THIS AFFECT THE AMERICA'S CUP!!!!??
The power supply isn't a problem, San Francisco is on the PG&E grid and can import power from elsewhere. Water isn't an *immediate* problem, there's several weeks of reserve in various reservoirs between there and here, but if Hetch Hetchey goes down most of the southern San Francisco Bay area, as well as San Francisco itself, will be in a major water emergency after that. As in, water not coming out of faucets when you turn it on kind of water emergency. Followed by water trucks giving out jugs of water kind of emergency.
It's going to be a bad fire season if this start is any indication. I really hope I'm wrong.
