A CNN anchor got pranked on the air today during a report on the Bay Area earthquake that struck early Sunday morning.

The prank isn't new—news outlets keep falling for it again and again—but it did apparently empower the anchor to blame the caller for CNN's decision to put him on the air without doing even the most basic fact checking.

"The fact of the matter is is a serious situation, so we don't need any jokes going on right now because we've got people who might be trapped in Napa," the anchor responded with her best impersonation of your middle school vice principal.
