Zebra Katz, the Mind Behind Underground Anthem “Ima Read” Is Here to Chatz
Last year was a good year for Ojay Morgan. After being signed to Jeffree's, an offshoot of Diplo's Mad Decent label, his fascinatingly caustic single "Ima Read" was picked as the sole soundtrack for dark horse designer Rick Owen's Fall 2012 show. Soon after, Morgan (as his alter-ego Zebra Katz) was being asked to perform internationally, alongside obsessively-blogged-about indie darlings Azealia Banks and Lana Del Ray.
But how did Morgan, a kid from Florida with a penchant for performance art go from making GarageBand tracks in his apartment to being heralded by Vogue, the New York Times, and our own 2012 Year in Pop review?
Well, now's your chance to ask him, because, with the help of Virgin Mobile, he's live in the discussion section below — ready to talk about how he retrained his brain for success, exactly what it took to get firmly ensconced in the spotlight, and what Lana's lips look like up close!
While you're at it, tweet a link to this post (grab it here) and a little bit about how you'd like to retrain your brain using the hashtag #retrainyourbrain. This will enter you to win a $200 American Express gift card (suggested use: let the $200 help you break free from whatever is keeping you down, like being overcharged in your current wireless "situation", or not having a famous fashion designer think you're the cat's meow) and a Samsung Galaxy Reverb courtesy of Virgin Mobile.
Standard contest rules apply. Only open to US residents. Readers may also enter by sending their contact information to Gawker Media, Attn: Retrain Your Brain, 210 Elizabeth Street, Third Floor, New York, NY 10012. The contest begins on February 25, 2013 at 11:59 AM ET and ends on April 30, 2013 at 11:59 PM ET.
