Caffrey the Two-Legged Cat Can Teach Us All a Thing or Two About Never Giving Up
Meet Caffrey: The two-legged 13-year-old Persian that makes the Hang In There kitten look like a pussy.
Ten years ago, Caffrey lost his left hind leg after getting run over by a car.
His left front paw was also badly damaged, but it was saved thanks to a series of operations that set his owner Sue Greaves back about $5,450.
Four months ago, Caffrey's mobility again faced uncertainty when his vet found a malignant tumor on his left front leg.
After consulting with four colleagues, the vet advise Sue to put Caffrey down in lieu of amputation. But Sue insisted that her cat wouldn't be "bothered at all" by becoming a biped, and ordered the vet to amputate.
Not long after — in fact, in far less time than expected — Caffrey was back on his (now-two) feet, happily hopping around like a champ.
"Everyone who sees him is astonished at what he can do," Sue is quoted as saying. "He doesn't seem bothered at all by having only two legs."
