A former LAPD officer who was fired in 2009 for allegedly making false statements about his training officer is the main suspect in three officer-involved shootings that took place overnight in Riverside and Corona.

One of the two cops shot in Riverside has since died.

Police say 33-year-old Christopher Jordan Dorner was already suspected of murdering a couple in Irvine last Sunday, and believe he is targeting individuals responsible or related to those responsible for his termination.

Monica Quan, the Cal State Fullerton assistant basketball coach who was murdered in Irvine along with her fiance Keith Lawrence, was the daughter of Randy Quan, the retired LAPD captain who represented Dorner in the review hearing that led to his discharge.

In a multi-page manifesto allegedly posted on Facebook by Dorner, Quan is mentioned by name and excoriated for his "lack of ethics and conspiring to wrong a just individual."

Dorner goes on to implicate himself in the murder of Quan's daughter and her fiance, writing "I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I'm terminating yours."

He also makes similar threats against "those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty," and calls his actions a "necessary evil that I do not enjoy but must partake...for substantial change to occur within the LAPD and reclaim my name."

As noted, Dorner, who considered being a police officer his life's ambition, was removed from the force in 2009 after an LAPD Board of Rights ruled that he had made false statements against Sgt. Teresa Evans.

Dorner had accused Evans of kicking a suspect, Christopher Gettler.

Dorner continues to stand by his claim, writing in his manifesto that the LAPD "has suppressed the truth and it has now led to deadly consequences."

Dorner is 6' tall, 270lbs, and is considered "likely armed and dangerous." He was last seen driving a gray 2005 Nissan Titan with the licence plate 8D83987.
