Christian Bale Helps Cheer Up Young Cancer Patient with a Ten-Minute Phone Conversation About Batman
Though he was unable to meet young leukemia patient Zach Guillot in person, the movie star arranged instead to have a lengthy phone conversation with the boy about his favorite topic: Batman.
In a YouTube video posted by Zach's family last week, the Dark Knight himself can be heard speaking with the 8-year-old for nearly ten minutes about different topics (but mostly Batman).
Zach jokes with Bale about persuading his younger brother that Zach is the real Caped Crusader. "The whole point of the movie is anybody can be Batman," Bale says. "Anybody can be as strong as that and help people and put good out into the world."
And Bale knows best.
Last fall, Bale paid for another leukemia patient, 4-year-old Jayden Barber to fly out to Disneyland to meet him. And in July, Bale paid a surprise visit to the medical center where several of Aurora shooting victims were recovering.
