The Tea Party Nation — organizers of the National Tea Party Convention and the only Tea Party-affiliated group presently labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center — sent an email to members yesterday with its official response to last week's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Penned by TPN blogger Timothy Birdnow, the Cicero-nodding jeremiad attempts to offer a step-by-step guide to riding the world of mass murders like the one witnessed in Newtown on Friday.

However, as predictably as they claim the left rises to the knee-jerk demand for more gun control, so too does Birdnow's harangue read like "a round-up of every major cultural and policy grievance the American right holds with the rest of the country."

It's all here: Lack of God in society; lack of corporal punishment in schools; violence in movies; sex on TV; drugs; crime; teachers unions; William Ayers.

Solutions? Homeschooling, "chastity and modesty," and more God. Nevermind that Adam Lanza was homeschooled and about as chaste and modest as they come.

And then there's this:

Support the creation of local organizations to act as "neighborhood watch" for schools. Had George Zimmerman been at the front door instead of some mechanical card reader those children would still be alive.

Tea Party Nation, and particularly founder Judson Phillips, have a history of making audacious political statements in the wake of national tragedies.

Following the Tucson shooting last year, Phillips described Jared Lee Loughner as "a leftist lunatic," and called on members to "fight leftists in the days ahead and defend their movement."
