John Kerry Will Likely Be Obama's Nominee for Secretary of State
According to ABC News, President Obama has decided to nominate Massachusetts Senator John Kerry for secretary of state. Kerry's presumed nomination follows last week's news that UN Ambassador Susan Rice had withdrawn her name from consideration for the position. Rice had faced high profile attacks from various Republicans, including John McCain, who said Rice was "not very bright."
Unlike Rice, Kerry's nomination is expected to face little if any opposition from Republicans, in large part because his vacant Senate seat would be up for grabs by recently-defeated Scott Brown. Kerry would replace the recently concussed Hillary Clinton, who is set to retire in several weeks.
