Here's the First Photo of Newtown Shooter Adam Lanza, Plus More Details of His Relationship With His Mother
This is the first photo (undated, but not current) of Newtown shooter Adam Lanza, via ABC. We know that Lanza, the suspected Newtown shooter, had a mother, Nancy, who taught at Sandy Hook Elementary. Though it has not yet been confirmed by police, the AP is reporting that Nancy was the unnamed adult victim found dead later this afternoon. More details have now emerged regarding the relationship between Lanza and his mother.
The AP reports that Lanza and his mother lived together in Connecticut. They are also reporting that Adam and his brother Ryan, the originally named suspect, hadn't had any contact since 2010. According to NBC, the guns used by Lanza in the attack were legally owned by his mother. The AP also reports that Lanza drove his mother's car to the school.
According to the Stamford Advocate, Peter Lanza has been identified as the shooter's father. Peter and Nancy Lanza are divorced, and he lives with his wife in Stamford. According to the Advocate, Lanza, a vice president of taxes for GE Energy Financial Services, did not appear to know that his family was involved in today's shooting before he was approached by a Hearst media reporter.
