ICYMI: Stephen Colbert Calls Bullshit on Rachel Maddow's Olive Branch to Conservatives
On last night's Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert had only one question for MSNBC's Rachel Maddow right off the bat: "Feeling good over there?"
Of course she was (even if a bit "pudding brained"), but Colbert noted that MSNBC's election night anchors and contributors weren't nearly as "elated" as their Fox News counterparts were "freaked out."
"I think the difference between the two sides is that the Right talked themselves into the idea that it was going to be a Romney landslide based on - I don't know," Maddow responded, before Colbert offered "gut" as the GOP's likely source of optimism.
Maddow continued: "Karl Rove was saying, 'Yes I see the polls but I also see the enthusiastic crowds and based on the enthusiastic crowds I'm sure that Romney is going to win.' Turned out it was a bad way to predict the election."
Colbert then wondered whether Maddow was simply going to gloat for the next four years, or if an olive branch was forthcoming. When she tried to equivocate on Wednesday night's nuclear truth-bomb, Colbert quickly called bullshit on her "friendliness."
"This is one of those days when the facts have a liberal bias," Maddow retorted. "And if you describe what happened in this week's election, liberals are going to be happy by a factual description of what happened."
