The U.S. and Iran Are Finally Going to Have a Talk About Iran's 'Nuclear Ambitions'
Doesn't it seem like the U.S. and Iran have been trying to "talk" forever? Remember way back, like, right after the 2008 election when they would slink off and have these intense, very secret conversations and we were all like oh, those two crazy kids will work it out! And we would sort of just avert our eyes and talk about whatever because it was just awkward how much they were fighting in public.
Now, literally four years later, like, right before Election Day, they've finally decided to have the nuclear talk:
Iranian officials have insisted that the talks wait until after the presidential election, a senior administration official said, telling their American counterparts that they want to know with whom they would be negotiating.
News of the agreement — a result of intense, secret exchanges between American and Iranian officials that date almost to the beginning of President Obama's term — comes at a critical moment in the presidential contest, just two weeks before Election Day and the weekend before the final debate, which is to focus on national security and foreign policy.
I mean, Iran knows how much Election Day means to the U.S., it's almost like Iran wants to ruin Election Day or something.
And, yeah, I get it, Iran has been dealing with a lot of rage issues and sort of has a history of promising to be more reasonable just so everyone will get off its back. And, yeah, the U.S. could stand to be less of a macho prick sometimes.
But I think we all know that no matter how many times Iran is like "I have nuclear ambitions!" the U.S. just won't give in and say "So fine, have a nuclear bomb already." (So controlling!) But, I mean, would a nuclear bomb really save their relationship?
I know this sounds crazy, but I literally think that Iran is dragging this on so Iran can secretly get nuclear without the U.S. knowing. I mean, once Iran is carrying a bomb, the U.S. is sort of like stuck, right? But I guess the real question here, is would any of this be fair to the nuclear bomb? And what does Israel think about all this? God, I don't even want to know what Israel thinks about all this.
