Does This Look Like the Face of a Man Who Would Attempt to Abduct a 10-Year-Old Boy?
An "old school, old time gangster" with dozens of priors over the course of 30 years was arrested last week in Santa Ana, California, and charged with false imprisonment and child annoyance after he allegedly attempted to abduct a ten-year-old boy.
The unidentified victim was on his way to soccer practice accompanied by his 19-year-old cousin when 55-year-old Victor Joseph Espinoza allegedly grabbed him and refused to let go.
The boy eventually managed to escape and ran straight to his soccer coach for help.
"The little boy came crying at me, saying that man wanted to take him. He said that he grabbed him and he started smelling him," the coach told ABC Los Angeles. "I'm a parent, I worry about my kids, and I thought that I had to do something."
Chasing after the suspect, the coach caught up with him at a nearby bike trail. He attempted to detain the suspect, but, following a scuffle, the latter ran off to hide behind some trees in the backyard of a residence close by, which is where police ultimately found him.
Espinoza, a documented Orange County gang member who weighs 425 pounds, allegedly attempted to abduct a girl earlier that same evening, but that attempt similarly failed after the victim broke loose.
