Good Lord: Chick-fil-A CEO Says His Company Supports 'Biblical Families'
Chick-fil-A was quick to issue a statement saying it had no plans to stop supporting organizations that "strengthen families and enrich marriages," contrary to reports that it promised to quit it with the anti-gay donations.
Boycott calls, same-sex kiss-ins, and a few angry mayors threatening the fried chicken chain with red tape have been unable to convince Chick-fil-A president and COO Dan Cathy that his company needed to make concessions to its opponents in order to be seen in a more positive light.
If anything, the last few months have hardened Cathy's stance, and in his first interview since touching off a firestorm with his anti-gay rhetoric, Cathy makes it clear that nothing has changed.
"Families are very important to our country," he told Atlanta's 11Alive on Saturday. "They're very important to all of us who are concerned about being able to hang on to the heritage that we have. We support Biblical families, and they've always been a part of that."
It's unclear which type of "biblical family" Cathy was talking about, as there are several acceptable combinations to choose from (see chart below).
