A woman in Texas was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly shot her husband to save her cat.

Deputies say 42-year-old Audrey Deen Miller of Spring drew a 40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and fired a bullet into her husband's stomach after he threatened to shoot one her cats with a pellet gun and throw it over a fence.

"The husband was trying to do something to the cat and the wife was just trying to protect her cat,' Assistant Chief Mark Herman told KHOU.

KSAT reports that the couple were apparently arguing about the cat, one of several found in the home along with a few dogs and some marijuana.

The husband was rushed to a local hospital in stable condition but left a short while later and headed home still in his hospital gown. KHOU says he had no keys on him and was unable to get inside the house.
