Joel and Ethan Coen Turning Fargo Into TV Show for FX
The Coen brothers have signed a deal with FX to adapt their Academy Award-winning film Fargo into a TV series of the same name.
Deadline, which was first to break the news, is short on details, but says the "hourlong project" will be "loosely based" on the 1996 crime film, and showrunning duties will be handled by Noah Hawley, creator of the short-lived ABC shows The Unusuals and My Generation.
Fargo, which follows the misadventures of two criminals hired to kidnap a car salesman's wife and the pregnant police chief hot on their trail, won Frances McDormand an Academy Award for Best Actress, as well as two Original Screenplay Oscars for Joel and Ethan Coen.
