Jake Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Lawrence Are Tied at the Box Office, Clint Eastwood Rambles Along in Third Place
In another slow box office weekend, Gyllenhaal's End of Watch and Lawrence's House at the End of the Street each brought in $13 million, which means we'll have to wait another full day for the official results of what Box Office Mojo calls "one of the tightest races ever for first place at the box office." How exciting for everyone.
Rambling chair talker Clint Eastwood starred in the third place film, Trouble With the Curve, which racked up $12.7 million. Last week's champ, Resident Evil: Retribution took a big hit and dropped to fifth place, with an estimated $6.7 million.
Dredd 3D, which is apparently a remake or reboot of 1995's Judge Dredd, bombed with just $6.3 million, putting it sixth place.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower grossed $244,000 on four locations, giving it fifth highest per theater total of the year.
