Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Headed to Rehab After His Onstage Freak Out

On Friday, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong made a touching attempt at punk rock authenticity at the iHeartRadio Music festival. He cursed a lot, claimed to be different than Justin Bieber, and then smashed his guitar.

Well, it turns out those efforts were just too hardcore for Armstrong or his handlers or someone, because the singer is now headed to rehab.

In a statement to The Associated Press, the band apologized for the incident and said their set was not cut short by Clear Channel, the host of the two-day festival.

The band is also canceling upcoming promotional appearances.
