It's Not Just Mondays: Researchers Find Americans Hate Nearly Every Weekday Equally
After analyzing the survey responses of over 340,000 Americans, researchers at New York's Stony Brook University have concluded that people hate Mondays just as much as they hate Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Fridays, however, are the exception: That's the one weekday people don't seem to mind.
"Despite our global beliefs about lousy Mondays, we conclude that this belief should be abandoned," said Prof. Arthur Stone, author of the study which was recently published in the Journal of Positive Psychology. "Cultural myths may vastly over-emphasize actual day of the week mood patterns."
As explained in the study, the reason Monday became universally known as the most depressing day is due to the significant mood swing experienced between Sunday and the first work day of the week.
