Silverback gorilla Kesho and his little bro Alf were born and raised in Dublin Zoo, but were forced to spend the last two-plus years apart while Kesho was off in London trying to get his breed on.

Sadly, Kesho turned out to be infertile.

But this story has a happy ending: Kesho, now 13, and Alf, now 9, were finally reunited this week, and could barely contain their joy.

"They were touching each other through the cage that temporarily separated them," handler Mark Tye is quoted as saying. "We put them together 24 hours later and it was like they had never been apart."

The two are now living side by side in Wiltshire's Longleat Safari Park, where a $5 million gorilla enclosure was recently constructed.

"The keepers from Dublin weren't entirely sure the brothers would even know each other, but the moment they met you could just see the recognition in their eyes," Tye recalled.
