New Bourne Takes Out The Dark Knight Rises
The box-office reign of The Dark Knight Rises is over: Universal's Matt Damon-less The Bourne Legacy has taken the top spot with $40.3 million.
In second place, The Campaign at $27.4 million. That's right, The Dark Knight Rises slid into third.
Still a respectable run for Batman, of course, but it's nice to see some new blood at the top. And by new blood, I mean old blood injected with the new blood of Jeremy Renner.
Hope Springs was a little disappointing, debuting in fourth with $15.6 million. But it's hard for an over-the-hill romance to compete with high-octane entertainment. Then again, The Bourne Legacy doesn't have Meryl Streep fellating a banana.
Maybe that was a mark against it?
