Despite a tenuous-at-best report that X-Files co-stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are "shacking up and in a relationship," Duchovny's rep last night issued a statement denying that fanfic has come to life.

The rep told MSN's Wonderwall that the rumors, which started when Anderson took a "long pause" when asked if she was seeing anyone, were false. But he did note that the two remain good friends.

Well, I guess that's that. Then again, if The X-Files has taught us anything, it's to never take reality at face value.
