Serena Williams' Olympic Medal Ceremony Marred by Major Flag Mishap
The bluster that helped Serena Williams blow past rival Maria Sharapova in Saturday's women's singles final wasn't as helpful during the medal ceremony when it caused one of the Olympics more embarrassing flag-related blunders yet.
The loosely affixed American standard was no match for the strong winds at Wimbledon, falling off its mount just as "The Star-Spangled Banner" reached the line about the flag still being there.
Williams took the flag fumble in stride, telling reporters "it was amazing to just be up there for the USA and hold this medal."
