Eight out of ten Americans believe in angels. Almost five out of ten Americans are creationists. Thirty percent of Americans either disagree with or are undecided on this newfangled Declaration of Independence thing. So I guess it should come as no surprise that, after four years in office and two years on the national campaign trail, fewer than half of American voters can correctly identify President Obama's religion as Christian, according to a Pew survey.

A full seventeen percent of the country still thinks Obama is a Muslim (which, ssshhhhh, but he is). And 31 percent aren't exactly sure (probably deciding between Hasidic Jew and a Scientologist). Only 49 percent of American voters got it right. Guys, we were so close to a majority. So close, but no, we couldn't quite get there.

Nineteen percent said they weren't comfortable with Obama's religion, including twelve percent of people who know he's a Christian. I don't know, polls are maybe confusing to some people?

Somewhat surprisingly, or not, the number of informed American voters is actually lower than 2008, when 55 percent of those polled knew Obama's religion (although it is better than 2010, when just 38 percent got the question right).

London's Kristen Stewart, Mitt Romney, fared a little better, with 60 percent of those polled correctly identifying him as a Mormon. And it gets even better for Mitt: only 13 percent said they were uncomfortable with his religion. So Mitt, finally, some good news.
