A 49-year-old Maine man named Timothy Courtois was arrested Sunday morning and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and criminal speeding. He was driving 112 miles per hour on the Maine Turnpike, and he had an AK-47 assault rifle, four handguns, and multiple boxes of ammunition in his Mustang.

Courtois volunteered to police that he had just seen The Dark Knight Rises, and he was on his way to Derry, N.H., to murder his former employer. From the Bangor Daily News:

Courtois told police he had attended the Batman movie at the Cinemagic Theater in Saco on Saturday night with a loaded gun in his backpack and that he was on his way Sunday to Derry, N.H., where he planned to shoot a former employer, McCausland said.

Courtois also allegedly had news clippings of the Aurora theater shooting in his car. A subsequent search of his house in Biddeford turned up the bulk of the arsenal seen in the above photo, including a machine gun, rifles, handguns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Had he only made it to New Hampshire, where Granite Staters live even freer and more prone to dying at the hands of a crazed former employee.
