Andrew Stanton, who's had a hand in nearly every Pixar movie worth watching, has received a decent amount of flak for his live-action directorial debut, John Carter, losing Disney a whole bunch of money.

But it seems all is forgiven: Deadline is reporting that Stanton has been asked to direct a sequel to his massively successful 2003 film Finding Nemo.

Both Disney and Pixar have yet to confirm officially, but word is that TV writer Victoria Strouse has been tapped to pen the script, and that a 2016 release date is currently being eyed.

Meanwhile, Finding Nemo will be re-released in 3D on September 14th as part of Disney's rolling re-release event that began last year with The Lion King.
