A Twilight fan known only as "Gisella G." was struck by a car and killed while crossing the street to the San Diego Convention Center. The 53-year-old woman was one of many fans camping out for the Twilight Saga panel at Comic-Con.

Although the panel isn't until Thursday, fans have lined up early — as they do every year — to get the best seats in the convention center's expansive Hall H. According to one of Gisella's fellow campers, she had been there at least for the past two days.

The woman was crossing the street at 9 a.m. when she was hit by a Subaru Outback. Gisella had seen the car and was trying to avoid it, but she ended up tripping and falling into the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital, where she quickly succumbed to her injuries.

While it's little consolation to poor Gisella, she will be honored at Thursday's panel. Lionsgate released the following statement in response to the accident—

Lionsgate, Summit and the entire Twilight community are saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year's convention in San Diego. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family and friends. She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday in Hall H.

Gisella's fellow fans had started a Twitter petition to get her a moment of silence during the panel. But given the circumstances, a few well-chosen words by Robert Pattinson might better put her spirit to rest.
