A cross-country flight isn't always pleasant, what with delays, turbulence, and seat-kicking to contend with. But the trip is, at the very least, shorter than 19 hours.

Spirit Airlines Flight 310 from Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida took an unexpected detour to Houston when one passenger became "disruptive." Unfortunately, Spirit Airlines does not fly from Houston to Ft. Lauderdale — which meant the passengers had to be shuttled to Dallas for a connecting flight.

Oh, they also sat on the tarmac for several hours. Because of course they did.

Spirit Airlines apologized for the inconvenience without disclosing details about the one bad apple that spoiled the bunch. According to local news in Florida, however, it was an 81-year-old "kicking and screaming" blind man. He was detained by authorities but later released.

Passenger Theresa Shaviano reflected on the ordeal to the LA Times.

It was terrible. It was unreal. It was painful. Nineteen hours we were in this mess.

Shaviano and her fellow passengers will be getting refunds — and possibly choosing another airline next time.
