Like the Kashif track I posted earlier this month, Krystol's "Nobody's Gonna Get This Loving But You" has been recently remastered (along with the rest of the Gettin' Ready album) by Funkytown Grooves. That label really knows how to please me with glistening electronic funk.

"Nobody's Gonna Get This Loving But You" came out in 1984, a time of transition for R&B that made for some wonderful between-genre oddities. This has a nice mix of boogie, hip-hop and freestyle elements, and the slightly dark vibe a la René & Angela's "I'll Be Good" gives it bite.

I bought the Gettin' Ready reissue a few months ago and haven't stopped playing this song since. My summer jam so far, 28 years late.
