Toddler Undergoes Landmark Surgery to Remove Tumor That Outweighed His Whole Body
2-year-old Jesus Rodriguez was born with a benign lump on the right side of his body that grew as he did, ultimately becoming an over-sized 33-pound tumor that was bigger than the 26-pound boy it was attached to.
Doctors at Mexico City's La Raza Medical Center managed to extract the tumor in a 10-hour operation that took place two weeks ago. According to Dr. Gustavo Hernandez , it was the first time in Mexican history that a tumor larger than its host was successfully removed.
Jesus is doing fine, and is expected to make a "strong recovery."
