Two Decades Later, Arsenio Hall Returning to Late Night TV with New Talk Show
Early 90's kingmaker Arsenio Hall is teaming up with CBS Television Distribution to launch a brand-new syndicated late-night talk show set to begin airing September 2013 on all Tribune Broadcasting TV stations.
Twenty years on, Hall is still best remembered for his self-titled talk show, which aired between 1989 and 1994, and gained a strong following among members of the MTV Generation. A memorable June 1992 appearance by then-presidential candidate Bill Clinton is believed to have contributed significantly to his election victory later that same year.
Among the stations expected to air Hall's new show are three in the nation's largest markets: WPIX in New York, KTLA in Los Angeles, and WGN in Chicago. All told, the show is guaranteed visibility in 17 of the country's top markets.
"In the end I'm a comic, and nothing fits the talk-show mode like a stand-up comic," Hall said today. "I know there are a lot of shows, but I think there's a space for my show."
