British PM David Cameron Accidentally Left Eight-Year-Old Daughter Alone in a Pub
The UK's Sun revealed today that Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha had a bit of a scare two months ago when they inadvertently left their eight-year-old daughter alone in a pub after finishing their Sunday lunch.
It wasn't until they arrived at Chequers Court, their country home near Ellesborough in Buckinghamshire, that they realized Nancy had been left behind at the Plough Inn. Apparently the little girl had gone to use the restroom, and returned to find her parents missing.
"Pub staff found their daughter in the toilet and didn't know what to do," a source told The Sun. "It's not like you can look up David Cameron in the phone book and then ring to say, ‘You've left your daughter behind."
A Downing Street spokesperson said the incident was the result of a mix-up over which car Nancy would be riding in. "Thankfully when they phoned the pub, she was there safe and well," said the spox. "The PM went down straight away to get her."
Reuters notes that this embarrassing blooper will likely "add fuel to critics who accuse him of being overly fond of relaxing, or 'chillaxing' as he has called it, when not dealing with affairs of state."
