Missouri Walmart Evacuated After Detained Shoplifter Starts Cooking Meth Inside Loss Prevention Office
A hazmet team was called in to dispose of a mobile meth lab set up inside the loss prevention office of a south St. Louis County Walmart by a woman detained for shoplifting.
The unidentified 32-year-old was reportedly caught shoplifting inside the Walmart and taken to the loss prevention office to await police. It was there that she decided to take out a 20oz soda bottle from her purse and begin cooking meth.
When police arrived to arrest the woman they found the portable meth lab — also known as a "shake and bake" — and ordered the store evacuated.
Officers then searched the woman's car, where they found several materials "directly involved in the production of meth."
"There are lots of one-pot cooks," Lt. Mark Cox told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "But taking it into Walmart is very unusual."
