'Mr. Trololo' Eduard Khil Fighting for His Life Following Stroke
Eduard Khil, better known to viral video watchers everywhere as The Trololo Man, is said to have suffered a stroke resulting in irreversible brain damage.
He is currently in a coma.
Khil, well-known in his Russian homeland long before he achieved Internet fame, is being treated at the Polenov Scientific Research Institute of Neurosurgery in St. Petersburg. His doctors say he requires emergency surgery to save his life, but note that, even if he pulls through, Khil will never be the same.
His family has reached out to the government for financial assistance, hoping to secure for him the best treatment available.
Khil first came to the Internet's attention in 2010, when a video of the baritone singer performing the song "I Am So Happy to Finally Be Back Home" in 1976 suddenly went viral. It went on to be parodied by Stephen Colbert and, most famously, actor Christoph Waltz.
The video's popularity sparked renewed interest in Khil at home as well, and he was invited to appear on several Russian variety shows.
