With a strong female hero at its core, The Hunger Games is viewed by some as the anti-Twilight. Maybe that's why so many were turned off by the suggestion of Twilight vampire Robert Pattinson as Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.

Well, take a deep breath, because Pattinson is here to ease your mind. Here's what he told USA Today.

I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games. I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent. [He] was like no one's going to offer you that part. I was like, thanks for the reassurance.

And then I was like, it's cuter if you imagine him talking with his natural accent.

For those who haven't read the series, Finnick is an opponent of Katniss' in Catching Fire. He also gets to carry a bitchin' trident.

In addition to playing impossibly beautiful vampire Edward in the Twilight series, Pattinson popped up in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory. (R.I.P. Cedric Diggory.) If he wants to win Teen Franchise Bingo, he'll have to find another series to latch on to.

Pattinson's most recent film, Cosmopolis, is the latest from David Cronenberg — and it's not even based on a YA novel.
