It's time to get your hopes up again.

Vulture is reporting exclusively that John Kennedy Toole's "unadaptable" magnum opus A Confederacy of Dunces is once again being adapted for film — but it may actually finally for-real happen this time.

The latest Prometheus taking on the long-stalled (potentially cursed) project is Flight of the Conchords co-creator James Bobin, who most recently helped return the Muppets to the big screen. With producer Scott Rudin and screenwriter Phil Jonston (Cedar Rapids) in tow, Bobin hopes to at long last tame the beast that broke multiple filmmakers over the course of the last 30 years.

And to help him bring Toole's fire to the masses, Bobin has reportedly tapped Zach Galifianakis, a man who fits the role of Ignatius J. Reilly like a green hunting cap to a fleshy balloon of a head.

No timetable to speak of at this point, and this latest attempt could well combust like the rest, but A Confederacy of Dunces will eventually get made, so it might as well be now.
