Michael McKean Struck By Car, Sustains 'Multiple Injuries'
Christopher Guest troupe member Michael McKean was walking near W. 86th St. and Broadway in the Upper West Side when he was struck by the vehicle.
The 64-year-old actor's condition was initially listed as "critical," but was upgraded shortly after his arrival at St. Luke's Hospital. He sustained a broken leg and facial lacerations. "[W]e are trying to find out the extent of other injuries," his manager, Harriet Sternberg, told the New York Post.
McKean was on his way to the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, where he is appearing in Gore Vidal's The Best Man.
"It's the first time he will have ever missed a curtain in his entire life," Sternberg told the Daily News. "He's never missed stage, screens in film or television. His understudy has never gone on in 40-plus years."
According to the Post, no criminality is suspected. The three people who were inside the car also sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
