In his feature film debut, Kumaré: The True Story of a False Prophet, filmmaker Vikram Gandhi seeks to explore the question of human spirituality by impersonating a "wise Indian Guru" named Kumaré.

Needless to say, it's somewhat controversial.

Gandhi spends months building a strong following in his homebase of Phoenix, Arizona. "At the height of his popularity," says the official synopsis, "the Guru Kumaré must reveal his true identity to his disciples and unveil his greatest teaching of all": Don't believe everything you believe.

Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at this year's SXSW Film Festival, Kumaré is slated for a limited release sometime this summer.
