Stephen Breyer Can't Catch A Break: Supreme Court Justice Experiences Second Break-In This Year
Associate Justice Stephen Breyer, it was revealed yesterday, had his Georgetown home broken into earlier this month by a burglar who made away with some $3,000 worth of stuff.
According to Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg, the thief climbed into the house after shattering a window near the front door, and grabbed a pair of silver candlesticks and a 100-piece silverware set before taking off. The perp remains at large.
This is the second time in nearly as many months that Justice Breyer has been the victim of a crime.
In February, a machete-brandishing man robbed the judge, his wife Joanna, her sister, and an additional guest inside their vacation home on the island of Nevis. No one was hurt in the incident, but the robber managed to leave with $1,000 in hand.
