T.I. Comes Out in 'Meh' of Gay Marriage

Following Jay-Z's co-sign of Obama's proclaimed support of gay marriage, rapper T.I. was asked about his thoughts on the issue when on Hot97's morning show yesterday. Here's his take:
I don't care. I don't see what the big deal is, why some people are so against it. Why would you be so against it if it doesn't affect you or your lifestyle? I'm not in that world and it doesn't affect me if they did or they didn't... I don't care enough one way or another. If something doesn't affect you, you should not take a strong position against it.
Yeah, exactly. Sometimes the most infuriating thing about anti-gay rhetoric is that it is predicated on the act of not minding one's own business. It's a good rule of thumb, really: mind your own fucking business. I never would expect T.I. to wave a rainbow flag to salute me, and he has recently skewed a little to close to homophobic tolerance for my taste ("If you're gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you're against it you should have the right to be against it in peace," he told Vibe last year), but I'll be damned if his recent statement isn't pragmatism you can use at least on a social level (voting/legislation is another matter). Butt out and leave the ass stuff to us.
