Keith Olbermann Will No Longer Be Authority on World's Worst People
In response to more cries of liberal double standards, Keith Olbermann is suspending his "Worst Persons in the World" segment. It's all over remarks the Current TV host made three years ago about conservative commentators Michelle Malkin and S.E. Cupp. (If you guessed he called either of them a "slut," you'd be wrong.)
In 2009, Olbermann tweeted that Cupp was "a perfect demonstration of the necessity of the work Planned Parenthood does." That same year he called Malkin a "big, mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick on it."
Olbermann denies that either comment was sexist — men can be mashed-up bags of meat with lipstick on them, too — but will apologize to both women. He's also abruptly stopping the "Worst Persons in the World" portion of his show. In the wake of Rush Limbaugh now infamously calling Georgetown grad student Sandra Fluke a "slut," Olbermann said, "I'm going to try to raise my standard about not using gratuitously abusive remarks about women, and men."
This comes a day after comedian Louis C.K. withdrew from his role as host of the Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner, following Fox News' Greta Van Susteren calling attention to his "filthy language about women." Unlike Louis C.K., Olbermann never used the C-word on air, but no one wants to be called "the worst" either.
