Do Women Feel More Pain Than Men Or Are Men Just Not Big Babies
According to a study conducted by the Stanford University School of Medicine, women may experience pain more intensely than men.
Scientific American reports that researchers examined the electronic medical records of 11,000 patients, each of whom had been asked to assign a "pain score" ranging from 0 (no pain) to 10 (worst pain imaginable) to their level of discomfort at the time of their doctor's visit.
Women's reported pain scores were, on average, 20 percent higher than men's, suggesting either that women are brave, beautiful creatures who bear the weight of the world on their shoulders or that they are complainers.
The results were published in the most recent issue of The Journal of Pain.
