ICE Officer to People Whose Home He Entered: 'the Warrant Is Coming Out of My Balls'
On October 20 of last year, two armed Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents broke into the two-bedroom Nashville apartment of Angel Enrique and Jesus Antonio, shattering a window and shouting racial slurs. Did they even have a warrant, Enrique and Antonio asked? "The warrant," one agent told them, "is coming out of my balls." So... no.
The ACLU and its Tennessee branch are filing suit against ICE on behalf of Enrique, Antonio, and the other 13 residents of their apartment complex whose rights were allegedly violated by the agents:
Among the plaintiffs are U.S. citizens, including a child detained and interrogated while playing soccer on the playground simply because of the color of his skin. Looking Latino and speaking Spanish is not enough to justify probable cause for questioning and arresting a person. Another plaintiff was carted away in handcuffs in front of his frightened and crying children.
Apparently, metro Nashville cops were in on the raid, too. The ICE agents, who held guns to Enrique and Antonio's heads, had no warrants (they said they didn't "need a warrant"). But these guys should be happy! At least they weren't thrown into one of ICE's secret detention facilities.
