Meet Ortis Deley. You've probably never heard of him, but in England, he's fairly well known as the affable host of a TV gadget show. Channel 4 thought they'd give him a shot at the big leagues: Hosting the 2011 International Association of Athletics Federations World Championships in Daegu, South Korea — a major track and field meet that the network was airing for the first time, after 27 years of BBC coverage.

This was a terrible idea, as you will seen soon in this highlight (lowlight?) reel. After three days of cringeworthy verbal fumblings and random Deleyisms ("When we come back we'll have more coverage live for you from...um...here." "We have a glorious sunny day here in the studio. Good night!" etc.), the network yanked Deley off the air.

And if you're looking for a local angle, Michael Johnson is seated next to Deley for much of the coverage — a fact even Deley can't seem to process. Turns out the four-time U.S. Olympic gold medalist has quite the splendid array of "You gotta be fuckin' kidding me" faces. Who knew? [Anorak]
