Time for an insanely depressing story about Americans living in squalor: A Florida couple was charged with child neglect today after police found them living in the above-photographed trash-stuffed car with their three children, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Justin Hamilton, 31, of Paisley and 26-year-old Kristen Harris of Eustis were taken to the Lake County jail Monday morning after officers found them inside a 1987 Cadillac Deville stuffed with clothes, garbage and three children in a Walmart parking lot off of U.S. Highway 441.

The couple told police they had been living in the car for a few days. Inside the coupe, they found a container of spoiled milk, old chicken bones and other trash.

One child was sent to the hospital for "untreated second-degree sunburns," and the other two are now with relatives. Both adults have histories of petty theft and drug-related charges. [Orlando Sentinel, Click Orlando]
