The 1999 edition of Rebelations, the yearbook for Columbine High, is fetching bids right now on an online memorabilia auction site. Yes, you can own the yearbook that features murderers and their victims for $500. [Update: The item has been withdrawn. See below.]

It was back in 1999 that seniors Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris opened fire at Columbine, killing 12 students and one teacher. Their photos appear in the yearbook described by the site as "an important memorial to the victims of the Columbine Massacre, as it depicts a vibrant community not destroyed by violence but rather filled with promise and compassion." That may be true, but trying to capitalize on the notoriety, even after all these years, is more than a bit tacky. And what sort of person would want to own such a thing for their rare book collection? Shame on you, Sarah Bay, the original owner of the yearbook and the person who put it up for sale. You must be really hard up if you're willing to exploit your classmates for $500.

Update:

The auction site removed the yearbook from its online catalog today. A friend of Sarah Bay tells us that the yearbook was stolen from her and it wasn't her decision to put it up for sale.
