In November of 1994, a bunch of unknown guys ran up on Tupac at Quad Studios in Manhattan, shot him, and robbed him. (Not the shooting that killed him! That was two years later.) That 1994 shooting was the spark that set off the East Coast-West Coast hip hop wars. And the assailants have never been discovered. Until now, maybe, allegedly!

Dexter Isaac, an inmate serving life in prison in New York for murder, has confessed to AllHipHop.com that he was the gunman in the Tupac shooting. He says that he did at at the request of Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond, a former friend and hip hop exec and alleged drug dealer.

In his confession (posted here in full) Isaac writes, "In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2pac Shakur at the Quad Studio. He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewelry I took, except for one ring, which he wanted for himself... I still have as proof the chain that we took that night in the robbery."

Is he telling the truth? I have no idea, but that chain would probably qualify for inclusion in the Smithsonian at this point. Chain or it didn't happen, Dexter Isaac.
