A German teenager named Thessa forgot to make sure the Facebook "event" for her 16th birthday was set to private. So 15,000 people confirmed their attendance, and more than 1,500 showed up on her doorstep.

Thessa, luckily, had gotten wind of the situation and spent the day with her grandparents "at an undisclosed location." But it sounds like the party got on without her:

Eleven people were temporarily detained, one police officer was injured, dozens of girls wearing flip-flops cut their feet on broken glass and firefighters had to extinguish two small fires at the 16th birthday party in Hamburg, police spokesman Mirko Streiber said Sunday.

Some revelers held up signs asking "Where is Thessa?" others brought birthday presents and homemade cake, there was lots of alcohol and the crowd chanted again and again, "Thessa, celebrating a birthday is not a crime," — in obvious relation to the massive police presence, Bild reported.

It doesn't take much to get Germans to show up in a big crowd, huh? Knock down one measly wall, throw one sweet sixteen, all of a sudden, everyone wants a piece of it. We'd say the takeaway is to keep your events set to private, but, honestly, this party seems kind of fun.
